The Syracuse Police Department and Syracuse University’s Department of Public Safety are investigating an armed robbery at Aspen Syracuse apartments on Monday night.

A student reported the robbery at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Monday, according to a campus-wide email from DPS. The suspect displayed what the student said appeared to be a handgun and demanded money while the student was leaving the parking garage and entering the stairwell of the apartment building, DPS said.

The student reported no injuries, according to the email. DPS said the suspect, who fled the scene on foot, is described as a man in their 20s, wearing all black and a black mask.

SPD is leading the investigation because the location of the robbery is off campus, but DPS is assisting. DPS asks anyone with information to contact the department at 315-443-2224 or SPD at 315-442-5222. People can also anonymously report non-emergency information to DPS through the Silent Witness tool or the Rave Guardian app.
